Turning Your Vision into Reality (tm)

Alone, as a team member, or as a team leader, I bring to your industry vast experience.
There's no 1099 hassle because I am incorporated. I also handle my own health care and carry errors-and-omissions insurance.
Please take the time to look over a few highlights of my experience below, then give me a call at 805-258-7171 (Detant-Inc).

BANKING SYSTEMS

For Lender's Technology, I migrated a DOS product to Windows / SQL Server. Working alone, I delivered a prototype in ten months which was so well received at trade shows that I was given hire/ fire/ mentor responsibility over a team of programmers for five years.

Bank Logos

This product has been used at some of the world's largest banks and insurance companies including all of those whose trademarks are shown above. Features include document automation, mailings, legal processes, and workflow. Monitors deadlines & critical periods. Tags outgoing documents with bar codes for automatic re-insertion into schedule on return.

ROBOTICS

From robots to self-driving cars to aircraft, autonomous vehicles are a present day reality, not the wave of the future.
For seven years, I wrote training simulators for autonomous aircraft. By integrating code to mimic forces, inertia, and aerodynamics with the given navigation system, the resulting simulator was very realistic. Trainers (who had a lot of experience flying the actual aircraft) remarked at how faithful the simulator was the real thing.

Flat Map3D Map

For SPAWAR, I upgraded a training simulator for the Patriot Missile System from a DOS-based black-and-white flat display to full-color 3D graphics with custom controls that allowed simultaneous changes of both the viewer's perspective and the position and orientation of the earth.

eCOMMERCE

I am a "Full-Stack" developer having commercial applications that run in a Browser with JavaScript, Cascading Style Sheets, and Server-Side Code including SQL Databases.
I am comfortable with Microsoft Visual Studio (all versions from 2008 to 2022), TypeScript, C++, C#, and several other development environments and languages.

Multilingual Software 01Multilingual Software 02

I contributed to the development of GlobeEST, a huge corporate Automobile Collision Repair Estimating system that is multi-lingual / multi-national and cross-platform compatible, with online data transfer and program updates. As a result, reports run 10 times faster.
My software runs in English, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, and German, and I have some experience with right-to-left languages.

MILITARY

The EA-18G is the Electronic Attack version of the Navy's F-18 aircraft. I wrote the simulator for the back seat (mission operator). That simulator is used at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Labs (APL) and the Naval Research Labs (NRL).

When the program was being tested for the first time, a conversation substantially as follows ensued:
Project Manager: David's software is in beta testing.
Program Manager: How often does it crash.
Project Manager: It doesn't crash.
Program Manager: New software? How is that possible?
David: A crash is an unhandled exception. I handle every exception by logging the exception and returning to a stable point in the execution.

I am a former U.S. Navy Officer and currently hold a Secret Clearance.
